I thought I would send you a few photos of a kitbashed 1/24 scale Herb Deeks model that I built a while ago.

I widened the model with plastic angle salvaged from an MDC Big Hustler locomotive, the fuel tank was built from a block of hardwood, some multi-strand wire and plastic bits. The air tanks were miscellaneous pieces from my scrap box.

The stack was made from brass and plastic tubing and the cab supports were made of Plastruct coated wire, brass wire and brass strip. The cab roof is a piece of corrugated plastic. The Caterpillar Yellow paint is actually SP Armour Yellow from Accuflex.

To highlight the details I dry brushed the unit with Dirt and Rust colored paints.

Hope you like it.

Since this project first appeared Vlad in New York has sent us an address for Herb Deeks - Herb Deeks - Models, 1516 E. Santa Ana St., Anaheim, CA 92805. Now if anyone can provide an email address or URL ….?
