Mosca was the first known scratchbuilt Gn15 locomotive (I made her well before ordering a Gnat kit).
Superstructure is fabricated from styrene sheet with various parts made from wire, dressmaker’s pins, and styrene tubing. Coupler pockets are standard Sidelines items. The driver is a Preiser figure who just seemed to be destined to drive that engine! The whole was built over a Model Power HO DDT-switcher chassis and motor that is at least 20 years old and provides reasonably good slow-speed running. She’ll easily round a 6-inch radius curve, and is a grand total of 8 scale feet long over buffers.
- About Carl: Pittsburgh resident Carl Arendt's "Micro/Small Layouts for Model Railroads" website was most people's introduction to Gn15 modelling. His Micro Layout Design Gallery and Small Layout Scrapbook have spawned three successful books (so far).
